Services Technician – Height Safety & Access Systems

Safety Plus Australia is seeking a motivated and reliable Services Technician to join our Services Team in Knoxfield, Melbourne. This hands-on role involves conducting inspections, certifications, and minor rectification works for height-safety and access systems across a wide range of customer sites.

You’ll work both independently and as part of a supportive team, using our digital field management system to complete all service reports, certificates, and photographic records in real time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete daily and weekly tasks allocated
  • Conduct onsite inspections and certifications in line with relevant Australian Standards
  • Identify defects, take photos, and document findings accurately
  • Carry out minor repair and maintenance works where authorised
  • Ensure all system tagging, labelling, and compliance signage is up to date
  • Communicate professionally with customers onsite
  • Submit timely reports and updates to the Services Manager and Coordinator
  • Report hazards, incidents, and improvement opportunities

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Working at Heights certification
  • Working With Children Check
  • EWP licence
  • Understanding of height-safety systems and OHS requirements
  • Ability to use digital reporting systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Clear communication skills
  • Current driver’s licence

Desirable:

  • Trade background (construction, maintenance)
  • Basic repair skills
  • Prior recertification or facilities-maintenance experience

About the Role

We’re seeking experienced installers or tradespeople with a strong background in construction, roofing, or carpentry. You’ll be working on commercial construction sites across Melbourne, installing a range of height safety systems including:

Candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction, roofing, or carpentry.

  • Access platforms & ladder systems
  • Abseil monorail systems
  • Anchor points & static lines
  • Walkways, handrails & guardrails

This role suits someone who’s confident on-site, skilled with tools, and ready to take the next step in a specialist trade.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Previous experience in height safety installations (preferred) or related trades
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in workmanship
  • Confidence with power tools and safe work practices
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • A valid car licence (C class) is required
  • Roofing, carpentry, steel work or similar trade background
  • Experience in carpentry, plumbing, or roofing trades is preferred
  • Australian citizenship is required for this position
